On The Nod Review

Welcome to our On The Nod review, where you will see us put this horse racing tipster service from Betfan under the microscope for 90 days.  The tips are delivered to our inbox each morning via email and are also available from the membership area within Betfan.  The On The Nod review will see results recorded at advised stakes and also at £10 level stakes.

Quick Summary

Welcome to our On The Nod review, a horse racing tipster service from Betfan. We will be recording every result that he has over the next 90 days, and see whether he can make us a good return. The service started in June 2017, and looking at the past results on the Betfan site I can see some encouraging results with a generally upwards trend.

Selections are sent by email each evening from around 7.30am Monday to Sunday, and can also be accessed via the members section. The On The Nod review will be recorded at advised stakes and prices, as well as to £10 level stakes.

From first inspection I notice the following key points from On The Nod:

* Bets are advised to be backed to win or each way
* An average monthly profit of just over £340 is claimed to advised £10 stakes
* A return of investment of 23.5% has previously been achieved
* Strike rate just shy of 30%

I'm looking forward to this On The Nod review, as I have heard good things about it previously, so now we can see whether it lives up to it's name.

Month 1 Summary

We have now ended the first month On The Nod review and things are swimming along nicely I have to say. Bets arrive in by email each morning in good time to get your bets placed. Pete also lets you know which bookmaker he advises to use, and when I have checked the odds have always been available for a decent amount of time.

For our review I have used one point for the win, and half a point each way for each way bets. Pete always advises to stake either five points for the win, or two and a half points each way for a total of five points. The results spreadsheet has two tabs where I have recorded both advised and level stakes.

Results have been calculated using best odds guaranteed, and by the looks of it you are better to take the morning price rather than wait for the final SP price. It may be possible to take whatever price is at Betfair when the email arrives with the tips, but I have not tested this theory.

There are not bets everyday, only when Pete feels there is a horse running of value, which is good in my opinion. An average of one selection per day has been the norm so far. The odds of selections is always respectable, no odds on selections here. We've seen winners at up to 23.0 (22/1) which certainly gives confidence that this tipster knows what he is doing, and you can be happy putting money down on his selections knowing you stand a very chance of coming out ahead.

As you can see from the stats an excellent profit was seen to level stakes of £319.75, even more so using advised stakes at £1598.75. A one hundred point betting bank is perfectly suitable for this service, and if results continue I would be more than happy to have this tipster in my collection of services to use. Looking to past results since the service started back in June 2017 I have every confidence that results will continue.

I'll be back next month for our second On The Nod review.

Profit/Loss to £10 Level Stakes +£319.75
Number of bets 31
Number of wins 12
Strike Rate 38.7%
Return On Investment 103.1%

Month 2 Summary

Month two of our On The Nod review has come to an end, and although the results haven't been as good as last month we've pretty much stood still for the month.

To our standard £10 level stakes the total winnings stands at £277.81, and £1407.81 to advised stakes. I think what may have affected profit this month is the addition of various doubles, trebles and yankee bets. When these are left out you would have seen a nice profit for the month.

Winners were seen at up to 7/1, and it is advisable to use best odds guaranteed bookies to cash in when the price drifts. Having said that invariably prices do tend to shorten as the day goes on, so the option to back to early prices on Betfair is an option, although I haven't tested this theory out as such.

I'll be back next month to see how the third and final review of On The Nod fairs. As it stands currently I'm happy with the way the trial is going, so let's hope to see a profit again next month.

Profit/Loss to £10 Level Stakes -£41.94
Number of bets 34
Number of wins 9
Strike Rate 26.5%
Return On Investment -11.91%

Month 3 Summary

Our third and final month of our On The Nod Review is now at an end. The service recorded a loss unfortunately this month, of minus £35.76, despite a strike rate of 24%. It seems the odds were just not high enough to pull in the profits required.

There were fourteen days where there were no bets at all, so rather a quiet month too. The service is still very much in profit, but the last couple of months do seem to have stalled a little. The service was once again a mixture of back and each way bets, with a double and treble mixed in which didn't pay out as expected.

I do like how Pete doesn't just give out a bet for the sake of it, and does indeed seem to look for quality rather than quantity. So maybe worth a punt to see how this fairs long term.

Profit/Loss to £10 Level Stakes -£35.76
Number of bets 25
Number of wins 6
Strike Rate 24%
Return On Investment -14.30%

On The Nod Conclusion

Our On The Nod review certainly managed to turn a profit for us of £242.05 to £10 level stakes per bet, and an even more impressive £1311.55 to advised stakes.

So although the service went flat over the last two months, we are pretty sure the service will bounce back to what it was for the first month of our review. Pete runs a professional service, and although you won't see a lot of selections, what you will see is selections that are quality bets in Pete's eyes.

So overall I will give this service a four out of five stars, as I can see this being a service where you will have quiet periods, but then a month will come which pushes profits back up as we seen earlier on in the review. Past results indicate this for On The Nod's previous results.
